HAPPY MOM’S DAY!
(You finally let me try picking you up after years of hearing me promise I could do it.)
Mother’s Day 2020 through Mother’s Day 2021 has been a series of glorious reversals, or ecstatic upheavals, hasn’t it?
•You gained a son
•You closed out a half-decade of ministry in one state, paving the way for those after you to take a church and a community to greater heights
•You moved to the same state as I for the first time in 13 years
•You launched into ministry in a new church that already feels like home
•You hit the books again to study for ministerial credentials
I love and laud your determination to give God full-hearted obedience. To never hang your hat and say you’re retired or too much of this or not enough of that to be used by God in a completely new context. To leave behind even meaningful things and find that God fills you with more than you expected once you count the parts of your life worth nothing in comparison to finishing the race He gives you. You’re willing to empty yourself time and time again, finding that He fills you with more than you could contrive yourself. You embody what it means to be born again (pictured here metaphorically), you named me “reborn” (literal translation), and you live in a state of regeneration. Thank you for showing the world what it means to walk with Jesus by giving a willing “yes” to whatever and wherever He leads. I’m so glad His leading led us together again.
